We are proud to announce that we are preparing to run our 50th season and we are just as dedicated today at providing the best training and life lessons as we were in 1965. Coach Fred Carpenter started the club as a way to help local students get active and stay out of trouble. He has helped many area youth become great athletes and great citizens through compassion, dedication and hard work. These are characteristics we instill to this very day in every member. We pride ourselves on our student first, athlete second mentality. We are an extension of the school systems and a very integral part of future development in all area youth. Many many members of the Club have gone on to achieve high levels of success. Some range from being the first high school graduate in their family, to college graduates and all the way up to successful business owners, doctors and high level politicians. On the mats, the Club has helped wrestlers win at every level there is. Youth level national champions, High school state and national champions, NCAA All Americans and Olympic style international successes.
The Middletown Wrestling Club (MWC) has been in existence for 50 years. Operated out of Middletown high school ans St. Andrews School since it's inception, we are proud supporters of Middletown High and area schools. We serve as a local feeder for MHS, AHS, SHS, BMHS and SGT schools. As well as prep/private schools in the state.
We are the Cavaliers but we strive to provide all wrestlers with the best opportunity to excel at the next level no matter what school you will attend. Our graduation rate to high school wrestlers was at 40% in 2012, this is 10% above the National average. Our enrollment increased in 2013 and we hosted just about 85 wrestlers over 3 divisions in the winter season. Our 2014 and 2015 enrollment remained very close to the same, with 82 and 84 members.
